We become anxious or worried when we face challenges or uncertainty in life. To some, anxiety can disrupt their life and stop them running daily activities. In this video, I’ll be sharing with you 10 signs or symptoms of anxiety disorder to look out for.

Everyone faces challenges and uncertainties everyday. When these become overwhelming, it is normal for most people to feel stressed. It gives us a sense of urgency to act. This mechanism is in fact wired in our brain. Its purpose is to help us face life threatening danger and help us survive.
However, prolonged excessive stress causes anxiety which in turns develops into anxiety disorder which is an mental illness if not managed. How do you know if you or anyone you know are suffering from anxiety disorder?
To find out, these are the 10 signs or symptoms to look out for:
1. Increased heart rate
Your heart beats more rapidly and more forcefully when you feel anxious.
2. Breathing rapidly
Similar to your increased heart rate you breathe more rapidly too when you are anxious.
3. Sweating
Your palms and other body parts sweat even in low temperature.
4. Trembling or shaking
When the condition become severe, one starts to experience trembling or shaking
5. Feeling fatigue
You constantly feel tired or fatigue even though you had enough sleep and rest.
6. Trouble with sleep
Sleep is normally disrupted when one feels anxious. When one is deprived of sleep, it is even easier to get anxious. Hence, the vicious cycle is formed
7. Trouble concentrating on anything other than the present worry
When one is anxious, it is almost impossible for one to concentrate on other matters. The mind is so occupied with thoughts of the concerning matter
8. Having a feeling of danger or panic
Even if the concerning matter is trivial, a person with anxiety can feel as if it was the end of the world.
9. Impaired digestive system
As the digestive system is suppressed, one may experience lack of appetite or indigestion.
10. Tense Muscles
If one or a group of muscles are tense constantly this is another sign of possible anxiety condition.
If you have these signs or most of them it is likely that you may be suffering certain degree of anxiety. Anxiety is treatable. Just like other conditions, it is better that you seek help earlier. Start learning ways to manage it or seek help from a mental health professional.
